Jack at the Optician

By rockhoppers

Jack had his first visit to the optician this morning – at his eight month check up because of my bad eyesight he was referred to the optician at the health centre. The good news is that he has not inherited his Daddy’s eyesight.

Jack had a variety of tests performed and passed every one. The optician moved a toy around and Jack followed it with his eyes, then she shone a light into his eyes and held a prism up to view his eyes. She also performed a test with a grey card with a white outline that he had to look up and down. There was also a ‘magic eye’ type picture which had a ball pop out in 3D (but only if both eyes are working), and Jack went to grab the ball, there was also a star and a cat that he ignored and a car that he tried to grab. Finally there was a flashing duck that he followed with his eyes.

Apparently squints might develop in the first 18 months so Jack has not quite got the all clear, and has another appointment booked for a years time.
